The excess is vanishing out of habit: refusing credit before it is offered, sabotaging your own visibility, cancelling on the day. It also shows up as giving with no limit — caring for whoever cannot pay it back until nothing is left — and as a dangerous taste for anaesthesia, because this house also keeps everything that serves to turn the volume down.
The deficiency is the opposite and hurts more, and it has an address: the 6th house, which sits exactly opposite. It is the person who fills every hour with a visible, checkable task so as never to be alone with themselves — and calls that productivity. From outside they look tireless. Both faces have the same raw material, and that is why the repair is the same: a withdrawal that has to be chosen, and not used as a hiding place nor avoided at all costs. It is not solved by asking the person to expose themselves more nor to rest more. It matures when the person stops waiting for credit and does not mistake that for giving up — and this discovery is worth more than any attempt to learn self-promotion. Trying to get exposure by effort almost always fails, and produces the deficiency described above.
There is a rhythm that helps understand the arc, and it belongs to the Sun itself: once a year it passes through your 12th house again, and takes about a month to cross it. That passage ends when it crosses your Ascendant — and that is what gives that month the end-of-cycle air tradition describes. It is not the month to begin something new: it is the one to close, tidy up and let go.
Maturity here is not learning to appear. It is the person coming to choose their own withdrawal instead of hiding in it. A mature Sun in the 12th house goes on working away from sight, and starts saying, when it applies, that this was done by them — and it is that sentence, said with no embarrassment, that turns invisibility into discretion.

A technical caveat the texts about houses tend to hide: there is more than one house system. Placidus, the most used in Brazil, and Whole Sign, the oldest, can put a Sun born near a boundary in different houses. It is not a calculation error: they are different rulers for dividing the same sky. If your birth time is approximate, or if your Sun is in the first or the last degrees of a house, it is worth reading the neighbouring house too and seeing which of the two describes your life. The chart is a system: each piece alters the others.
