What an aspect is in the birth chart
An aspect is the distance between two pieces of the chart, measured in degrees — and that is what says whether they work together, ignore each other or fight. The previous series describe each piece on its own: the planet in the sign, the planet in the house. This one describes what happens between two of them.
There are five distances that tradition calls the major aspects: the conjunction (0°), the sextile (60°), the square (90°), the trine (120°) and the opposition (180°). Each has its own way of putting two pieces in contact, and none of them is good or bad — what exists is what each one charges and what each one delivers.
And there is the number almost no text gives: the orb. Two pieces at exactly 90° form a square; at 97°, they form nothing. This blog uses 6 degrees for the major aspects, and outside that they are two pieces in the same chart, which is another thing. That is why an aspect is not found out from the date: it needs the calculated chart.
And there is a reading order that changes everything, and that almost no site respects: the aspect comes last. It describes the relationship between two pieces, and there is no reading the relationship without knowing both. Whoever arrives here without having read each piece in the sign and in the house is reading the conversation without knowing who is speaking.
What Mars and Uranus mean together
The aspect between Mars and Uranus says how fast you act without thinking. Mars is the impulse to act. Uranus is what breaks and gives no warning. In contact, the two produce someone whose action arrives before the decision — the hand has already moved while the head was about to weigh things up.
It is the aspect of the fast reflex, and it saves and injures with the same piece: the person who reacts before everybody else in an accident is the same one who resigns one morning.

The conjunction of Mars and Uranus
The conjunction puts the rupture inside action: this person acts in jolts. She has above-average reflexes, handles an emergency well and does not freeze under pressure. She is the one people say acts while the others think, and at the right moments that is worth gold.
The cost is the decision that comes out on its own. She quits the job, ends the relationship or buys the ticket one morning, and explains afterwards. The fix is agreeing with herself on a waiting rule for a big decision — twenty-four hours, no exceptions.
The easy aspects: sextile and trine of Mars and Uranus
The sextile and the trine give speed with no damage: the person acts fast and gets it right. She improvises well, likes work that changes every day and is good in situations that call for an immediate reaction. Her originality turns into action, and not just into ideas.
The cost is the little friction with her own haste. Whoever always got it right fast never built the habit of waiting — and finds it missing in a decision where waiting was the method, and not an obstacle.
The tense aspects: square and opposition of Mars and Uranus
The square and the opposition set the will against haste — and out of that fight comes a fast person you can rely on. The person is suddenly irritated, cuts off a relationship or a job without preparing the exit and has more accidents than average — in traffic, in sport, with a tool. The body pays for the haste.
The fix is the twenty-four-hour rule for any irreversible decision, and a regular place for the energy to go: sport, a workshop, anything physical and routine. With no outlet, the piece picks on its own where to discharge.

This is the inversion most texts do not make, and it holds for every pair: what runs with no friction was never tested, and what bothers is what produces. The trine between Mars and Uranus delivers the result with no effort — and for that reason the person usually does not build the muscle, and finds that out on the day the ease is not enough. And the square delivers the opposite: a person who had to learn to wait twenty-four hours, and who for that reason is fast when it is needed and not when it hurts.

Maturity here is not getting slower. It is the person saving the speed for where it serves, and the waiting for where haste charges.

How do I find out whether I have this aspect in my chart?
Only with the calculated chart. An aspect is a distance in degrees, and a degree cannot be estimated from the date: the two pieces have to be within 6 degrees of the exact distance for the aspect to exist. It is different from the sign, which the date gives — and it is why this series asks for the chart before any reading.
Is a tense aspect bad and an easy aspect good?
No, and that is the reading this blog refuses on every page. The easy aspect runs with no friction and for that reason was never tested — the person usually does not build the muscle, and finds that out on the day the ease is not enough. The tense one bothers, and it is the bother that produces. The biographies worth reading tend to be full of squares.
Does Mars with Uranus make a person impulsive?
It makes action arrive before the decision, which is a more exact description. The same piece produces the reflex that handles an emergency and the resignation letter written one morning. What separates the two is a waiting rule for anything irreversible.
Why do I get hurt more than other people?
Because the body executes before the assessment finishes, and in traffic, in sport or with a tool that fraction of a second is the whole margin. A regular place to spend that energy cuts the bill more than any promise to be careful.
