The sign of Jupiter says HOW you grow; the house says WHERE life opens space for you. They are two different questions, and in this series the second is worth more than the first — for a reason no other family of texts on this blog has.
The sign of Jupiter belongs to your whole age group. It stays about a year in each sign, so everybody born in the same period has the same one. The house is yours alone. The strength is regeneration with resources: this person falls and gets up with help. She loses and rebuilds, and in the rebuilding somebody who funds it turns up. In practice that turns into three useful things: an ability to act in a crisis that saves a company, a family and sometimes a life; a competence with shared money, contracts and investment; and an access to other people's resources that most do not have.

What are the challenges of Jupiter in the 8th house
There are two, and they are opposites: the excess is the ease with other people's resources turning into a large debt, and the deficiency is the person who stopped expecting anything good from this area. Every house has a pair, and the pair of 8 is house 2. They are not separate subjects: they are the two ends of the same axis, and an excess at one end shows up as a lack at the other. The 2nd house is the opposite: what is yours, the income you make yourself. A Jupiter in the 8th with an uncared-for 2nd house ends up trapped — because someone with no resources of her own negotiates from a position in which losing is far too expensive.
It is the most practical correction of this whole series: keeping your own income and reserve is not distrust of anybody. It is what lets you enter a partnership by choice, and not out of need.
How Jupiter in the 8th house evolves over time
It matures when the person learns to formalise what she lives wholeheartedly — and that is worth more than any attempt to learn to risk less. The access to resources goes on being the talent; what changes is that it stops arriving alongside risk nobody discussed.
And here is the rhythm that is easiest to check in the whole chart: the Jupiter return, every twelve years. At around 12, 24, 36, 48 and 60, it comes back to the degree it was at when you were born, and the subject of THIS HOUSE asks for new space.
