There are two rhythms here, and the difference between them is the whole arc. Jupiter, the old ruler, goes around the zodiac in about twelve years: it is the cycle of meaning and expansion. Neptune, the modern ruler, takes about a hundred and sixty-five years — nobody lives a whole cycle of it, and that is why what it dissolves dissolves slowly, across long stretches in which the person does not quite know what is happening.
