And here is what almost no text explains, though it is the most useful fact about this piece: your Venus can only be in five signs — your Sun's, the two before it or the two after it. Venus never moves more than 47 degrees from the Sun, and a sign has 30. There is no such thing as Sun in Aries with Venus in Leo, and no calculator will say otherwise.
This is what answers the question that comes up all the time: why two people of the same Sun sign love in such different ways. There is a rhythm that helps to understand the arc, and it belongs to Venus itself: roughly every nineteen months it turns retrograde for about six weeks. It is not a punishment: it is the period when taste goes back over itself — it runs into old company, reassesses what looked settled, discovers it wanted something else. No, and about seven per cent of people were born with it that way.
