That strength does best in creation, technology, public causes, one's own venture and any arrangement where standing out is part of the value. And it does badly in an environment that demands a uniform and discretion, an arrangement where standing out is bad manners and anywhere the hierarchy rests on appearance.
What are the challenges of Uranus in the 1st house
There are two, and they are opposites: the excess is difference turning into a permanent fight with the surroundings, and the deficiency is the person who erased herself in order to fit. The excess is breaking by reflex: the person changes appearance, arrangement and direction every time she starts to feel boxed in, and afterwards does not understand why nothing lasts. It also shows up as a background irritation with anyone conventional, which closes doors.
The deficiency is the opposite: the person flattened her own presence so as not to bother anyone, and calls that discretion. She wears what is expected, says what is expected, and carries a nameless restlessness that comes back as tiredness with her own life. It is not solved by asking the person to adjust — adjusting produces the second face. Every house has a pair, and the pair of 1 is house 7. They are not separate subjects: they are the two ends of the same axis, and the excess in one shows up as a lack in the other. The pair of the 1st house is the 7th, the other person. Whoever has Uranus here tends to have a restless relationship with their own presence — and the bill arrives at the opposite end of the axis, as difficulty in being close to someone without feeling they lost their shape.
When the 1st house gets too intense, the 7th empties out: the person defines herself alone and finds every partnership strange. And when the 1st is erased, it is the 7th that decides who she is. The adjustment that works is having a presence of one's own strong enough to sit beside another, and not instead of it.

It matures when the difference gains an address — and that is worth more than any attempt to learn to fit in. Presence remains the talent; what changes is that it stops spending a life proving it is not like the others.
And here there is a clock almost nobody names: the opposition of Uranus, at around 42 years old.
