There is a rhythm that helps to understand the arc, and it belongs to Venus itself: roughly every nineteen months it turns retrograde for about six weeks. It is not a punishment: it is the period when taste goes back over itself — it runs into old company, reassesses what looked settled, discovers it wanted something else. How do I find out which sign my Venus is in?
It is in your Sun's sign, in the two before it or the two after it — never outside those five. To know which of them, the chart has to be calculated with the date and, preferably, the time: for anyone born on a day when Venus changed signs, a few hours decide it. The date alone settles most cases.
Is Venus retrograde in the birth chart a bad thing?
No, and about seven per cent of people were born with it that way.
