What Saturn says in your birth chart

Saturn is where you take longer, and where what you build stays. It is the area in which nothing came free — in which you felt insufficient early, held yourself to a higher standard than the people around you, and took years to get where whoever finds it easy gets in months. And it is, for the same reason, the area in which you end up genuinely good.

This series carries the same caveat as the previous one, and even stronger: you share the sign of Saturn with everybody born around your own age. What are the strengths of Saturn in Aquarius

The strength is independence of judgement: this person does not think in a herd. When a whole group is convinced of something, she is the only one still asking — and that saves a project, a company and sometimes a family. It is a competence unpopular and valuable in exactly the same measure.

In practice that turns into three useful things: an ability to hold a position alone, which avoids collective error; a seriousness with a cause that produces long-term work where others give up; and a talent for organising a group, which she usually exercises without giving herself credit.

That strength does best in technology, research, a social cause, an association, structured collective work and any arrangement in which thinking differently is the product. And it does badly in a setting that demands agreement without discussion, an arrangement in which the rule is not explained and anywhere disagreeing costs you your place.

What are the challenges of Saturn in Aquarius

There are two, and they are opposites: the excess is distance turning into an isolation defended with arguments, and the deficiency is the person who gave up on this subject before it ever held her to account. Saturn shrinks what it touches, and the commonest way of shrinking is to stop trying.

It is solved with time and presence: choosing one group and staying in it for three years, even without feeling part of it in the first. It matures when the person accepts that belonging takes years — and that acceptance is worth more than any attempt to learn to loosen up in a group. The independence goes on being the talent; what changes is that it stops costing all the company.

And here lies the most recognisable turn of a whole biography: the return of Saturn, at around 29 and again at around 58. Here the return usually comes with a group: a new community, a cause taken on, a break with a crowd that no longer served, or a post of collective responsibility.
